How do I access my QML results?
Online. QML Pathology offers online results that enable you to view your patients’ results quickly, efficiently and securely from any computer with an Internet connection. This is accessed via the Medway website, a web-based application by QML Pathology, providing you with real-time results, anytime, anywhere.
How long do NIPT results take QML?
Results available within 3 – 5 days of sample arrival at laboratory.
How long do blood test results take Australia QML?
Once your payment has been taken you can visit any QML Pathology Collection Centre with your request form for specimen collection. No appointment is necessary. Results will be ready approximately four weeks from sample collection, or approximately two weeks for PGx tests.
How long do QML forms last?
Most test request forms are valid for at least 6 months (unless your doctor has specified otherwise). If your pathology testing request form is more than 6 months old, please contact your doctor for a new request.
Will my doctor call me with blood test results?
Do healthcare providers call you if test results show bad news? They may. If results are concerning, they may call you or have a receptionist call to schedule an appointment. 4 A healthcare provider may also call to assure you everything is okay or discuss any needed follow-up tests.
Is it worth getting NIPT test?
The NIPT is highly sensitive and picks up more than 99% of cases of Down syndrome. But it is still a screening test rather than a diagnostic test. This means it can only tell you whether there is an increased risk of having a baby with an abnormality, rather than give you a definitive answer.
Can you drink water when fasting for a blood test?
General guidelines. During your fast, you may drink water, but it must not contain additives e.g. avoid tea, coffee or cordials. You should avoid alcohol for 24 hours or 1 day prior to the test, if possible. Unless your doctor advises otherwise, you should continue taking any current medications.

How long does it take to get results from a blood test?
According to Regional Medical Laboratory, most in-hospital results can be obtained within three to six hours after taking the blood. Sometimes blood drawn at other, non-hospital facilities can take several days to get results.
What if I have Covid symptoms but test negative?
Negative. The test did not detect the virus, but doesn’t rule out an infection. If you have a negative test, but have symptoms of COVID-19: You may have COVID-19, but tested before the virus was detectable, or you may have another illness, such as the flu.

The earliest time we can assess the baby’s sex is at 12 weeks gestation/pregnancy: We can tell the sex of the baby at the 12 week scan by assessing the direction of the nub. This is something that can be identified on babies at this stage and if it points vertically then it is likely to be a boy.
Is NIPT test covered by Medicare?
NIPT is a good option if you are willing to pay for it — the test is expensive and not covered by Medicare (see ‘How much does the NIPT cost’ below). You should also consider genetic counselling before you have an NIPT.
