You need to clean the base of the vane to get good adhesion with AAE vanes. I use the Maxweld pen that they sell and it works very well. There are several threads about this topic. Some guys use diluted acetone with good results also.

Can I use Gorilla Glue for arrow inserts?
GORILLA GLUE works great, and won’t crack from cold like some epoxy glues do. Personally I use the blue top for vanes and insert but hot glue for nocks, that way I can turn them if necessary to tune arrow or align my moon nocks after fletching if necc. I use the hot melt also.
Is Gorilla Glue good for fletching arrows?
It does stick to the shafts very well. I have tried to pull vanes off with pliers and stretched them to about 4 inches. You’ll have to cut them off with a razor. I actually had to junk a few shafts because some carbon came off with the vanes.

Is helical fletching better than straight?
A straight fletch prevents the wind resistance you would see by using an offset/helical turn on your vanes but it also eliminates the helpful riffling effect needed to stabilize your arrow. A helical fletch can work very well if you are using a low draw weight/low speed bow.
