What grade is Tyvek?

Is Tyvek Grade D paper?
Generally, we observe Tyvek as the first or inner layer of the air barrier, with a black Grade D 60-minute building paper, such as Super Jumbo Tex installed as the bond break layer.
Does it matter if Tyvek is upside down?
Tyvek® HomeWrap® and Tyvek® CommercialWrap® are non-directional and are equally effective if installed with the logo facing the inside or outside of the wall or with the logo oriented in any direction.

Typar®’s thin layer is not consistent and varies from 4.8 to 22.6 microns, which compromises Typar®’s durability.
Is Tyvek required under stucco?
The short answer is, yes you can apply stucco over Tyvek but it is not recommended, a grade D paper (two ply preferrably) is better suited for stucco and is more compatible with the material. Tyvek is slicker and cement will have a harder time staying in place when applying the base coat.
What goes behind stucco walls?

Can I Staple Tyvek house wrap?
Tyvek says you can use 4 staples per 9 feet of house wrap if you tape over them an apply the siding right away. But a cap stapler is better. Apply house wrap up the gables before installing exterior trim, even if the attic is not conditioned.

How much should Tyvek overlap?
Upper layer of Tyvek® WRB should overlap bottom layer by a minimum of 6”. Refer to the DuPont™ Self-Adhered Flashing Systems Installation Guidelines to prepare and flash window and door openings. NOTE: If windows are already installed, the Tyvek® WRB must be integrated with proper shingling with window flashings.
Is Tyvek waterproof?
Tyvek is waterproof in the sense that its structure remains stable and unaffected even when submersed in water, it’s just as strong when it’s wet as when it’s dry. In terms of water penetration, water droplets will not ‘wet’ and soak into the surface, they will simply remain as droplets on the surface.
