Is Hostel compulsory in Manipal Institute of Technology?
It is mandatory for all first year students to reside in the Hostels. However, first year students desirous of staying outside under own arrangements must submit a consent letter from their Parents duly recommended by their HOI and forward it to Director, Student Affairs for necessary permission.

Are parents allowed in Manipal Hostel?

Students must keep the Campus & Rooms clean. Defacing walls, equipment, furniture etc., is strictly prohibited. Birthday/Other Celebrations are strictly prohibited in Hostel. Students must turn off all the electrical equipments & lights before leaving their rooms.

Is PC allowed in IIT hostel?
Yes you are allowed to take you own PC in Hostel room where you live. All IIT hostel are accessible so you can form a local server and play CS. Never checked online servers. You are provided with a proxy Server and Authentication details to go over internet, Most of sites are accessible with some filtering in between.
What are the facilities in a hostel?
The hostels are provided with all basic facilities including water coolers with water purifiers, washing machines, common TV room, common reading room, common gym, etc. Adequate dining facilities are available for all hostellers.

Since 2018, the college does not provide laptops. You will have to bring your own laptop. If you are purchasing a new device, an i5 processor along with 4GB RAM stick should be sufficient for your college courses. You can opt for higher-end devices depending on your need and interests.
Can I leave my bag in a hostel?
All hostels should provide clean sheets and linen. Can I leave my backpack in a hostel? You will have two options, you can either leave it in your room and under your bed, or inside a locker. Or if you have checked out, you can request to leave it in the luggage room.
Is it hard to sleep in hostels?
Hostel rooms are full of distractions and noisy strangers that will keep you awake if you give them the chance. If you’re having trouble sleeping well in hostels, just know that there’s hope (as long as you take some of my advice.) Trust me, I’ve slept through it all.
