Can you bleed Magura brakes with a Shimano bleed kit?
Shimano brakes use mineral oil as do Magura brakes, so there’s no fundamental incompatibility and you can use the same bleed kit providing the fittings work.
Is Magura mineral oil the same as Shimano?
Magura blood, Shimano brake fluid or LHM automotive fluids are all the same but their color. You can use any of them, even mix them together to make the color that you prefer.
Can you use any mineral oil in Magura brakes?
All MAGURA brakes use low viscosity mineral oil (Royal Blood) as hydraulic medium.
Can I use regular mineral oil Magura?
Well the mineral oil from the pharmacy works fine. Actually I can’t really tell the difference in braking quality from regular mineral oil compared to Magura blood. However, Regualr Mineral Oil is much thicker than Magura Blood and the air bubbles move through the lines very slowly.
Can I use normal mineral oil in Magura brakes?
Mixing oils of the same type is OK. Those mineral brake fluids are the same type, classed as LHM and they are the same density. You could even mix a different density of the same type, LHS or RR brake fluids for an example, since they are mineral oils as well.
Does Magura use mineral oil?
All MAGURA brakes use low viscosity mineral oil (Royal Blood) as hydraulic medium. Contrary to DOT brake liquid it does not irritate human skin nor damage the paint off your frame.

Can I use regular mineral oil in Magura brakes?
Magura brakes use mineral oil brake fluid only. Never introduce DOT brake fluid into your Magura brake system. These two fluids are not compatible. Using the wrong fluid will damage your brake’s internal seals and may result in brake failure or premature wear.
What brake fluid do Magura brakes use?

How long should you gravity bleed brakes?
This usually takes 3-4 minutes. At this point, we like to tap the caliper a few times with a rubber mallet or the wood handle of a standard hammer. You can usually see small bubbles rise up through the tubing, especially at the start. Check your brake fluid reservoir to make sure it is properly topped off.
Should you bleed brakes with the engine running?
If what you meant was bleeding the brakes at the calipers to remove air from the system, you should bleed the brakes with the car off. While ‘pump’ was the wrong word to use, the brake booster runs off the engine vacuum (it’s a large diaphragm that multiplies brake force), and this should not be active.

Is it best to bleed brakes with engine running?
Can I just gravity bleed my brakes?
Gravity is the simplest one-person brake bleeding method. Attach the hose to the bleed screw, open it up, and watch old brake fluid and air flow out of the lines like water through the Aqua Virgo aqueduct on the way to Rome. These inexpensive Bleed-O-Matic type setups work well.
