When the transition from sleep to wake is detected the device promptly reduces the pressure to help facilitate a return to sleep.
What is expiratory relief?

What comes with a CPAP machine?
There are three main parts that make up a CPAP machine: a motor, a CPAP hose, and a CPAP mask. The motor brings in air from the room to pressurize it according to your pressure setting. The air is room temperature, and some machines have a water tank to moisturize the air.

Do you turn off CPAP when you go to the bathroom?

Can I adjust my CPAP pressure myself?
Generally, your sleep doctor will perform a “CPAP titration,” an in-lab sleep study, before you begin therapy to calibrate your machine’s air pressure settings. For this reason, it’s not recommended that you try to adjust your CPAP pressure yourself. It’s best to leave these adjustments to the professionals!
